The application period for the SHIFT Call for Projects 2027 is now open.

As a co-initiator of SHIFT, we at the DGNB would like to draw your attention to this year’s call for projects and cordially invite you to apply or share it within your networks.

SHIFT deliberately goes beyond purely technical solutions. We are looking for projects that respond sensitively to their context and combine themes such as appropriate, “breathing” architecture, high-quality open spaces, the use of regional and reused materials, and a high level of comfort in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Equally important are durability, adaptability, and a positive contribution to people and nature.

SHIFT is seeking built projects that combine:

  • outstanding design quality with consistent sustainability
  • material innovation and passive, low-tech strategies
  • systemic thinking and strong social engagement

What makes SHIFT special is its global perspective on architecture. The initiative advocates for architecture that is climate-just, takes cultural and local conditions into account, and draws inspiration from proven examples from around the world.

Applications are open until September 30, 2026. Selected projects will receive their own SHIFT badge and be featured on www.shift.global

P.S.: For anyone traveling in Austria who would like to learn more about SHIFT, there will be an opportunity to do so on July 30 at SHIFTxVienna – Learning from the Global South. Together with ÖGNI, SHIFT founders Christine Lemaitre and Thomas Auer will demonstrate how approaches from the Global South open up new perspectives for climate-resilient, resource-efficient, and people-centered architecture.
